Hitty Hedydd enjoyed another evening of theatre offered by our local high school. This year EHS produced Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible”, a dramatization of the 1692/1693 Salem Witch Trials. She found the play as disquieting and insightful as it was when it was first penned in 1953 and the subject matter curiously contemporary.
The young people turned in strong performances. The costumes were outstanding, as was the simple, spare set. Hedydd was a trifle disappointed that she had not been offered the role of “The Poppet”, in her opinion, the pivotal character of the entire play. She considered her credentials excellent, naturally. However, a great production needs a great audience, and Hedydd was happy to oblige.
